The Craftsmen Edit: How To Refresh Your Kitchen

Hello and welcome to the third instalment of The Craftsmen Edit! Today, we’ll be discussing the various ways you can refresh your kitchen and help breathe new life into your home. Remember, these refreshing changes don’t have to be big – even little things can add up to make a huge change to the overall look and feel of your kitchen.

Ready? Great! Then let’s go.

Let there be light

The right lighting can really make a big difference to the overall look of your kitchen. Start off by giving your windows and any blinds or curtains a good cleaning, to make sure you get the most of the available natural light.

Next, take a look at your food preparation areas in your kitchen. Are your existing lights bright enough for the space? If not, maybe it’s time to invest in some new spotlights, or re-jig your existing lighting scheme.

Get organising!

When you’re rushing to get ready for work in the morning, the last thing you want standing in your way is a cluttered kitchen. To stop this happening, it really pays to stay on top of the clutter. Go through your kitchen cupboards and make sure everything has its place.

If you haven’t used something in a long time, or you’re still holding on to those chipped plates and bowls from bygone years, maybe it’s time to say goodbye.

Utilise available storage

If you have a small kitchen space, fitting everything in can be a bit of a challenge. If this sounds like your kitchen, you should definitely consider utilising more of the available space for storage. Hanging racks or even pegboards are a great solution for pots and pans, while drawer dividers, racks and Lazy Susan baskets in your cupboards can make a big difference.

Add a pop of colour

This doesn’t have to mean going all out with a new paint job – though, of course, feel free to do so! Instead, there are plenty of other, cheaper ways you can add a pop of colour to your kitchen.

Think new accessories, or even something simple like a bright bowl of fruit. Using wallpaper or contact paper inside glass cabinets is also a fun way to add a bit of a statement to your kitchen.

We hope these tips have been useful! If you think your kitchen has reached a point where these refreshing tips won’t make much difference, then maybe it’s time to consider a completely new look!
