Why We Love Our Hamptons Style Karrinyup Project

Hamptons farmhouse kitchen with wooden accents.

We can’t get enough of this recent custom kitchen renovation in Karrinyup. It captures everything we love about traditional Hamptons style kitchens, whilst cleverly incorporating elements of both coastal and modern farmhouse designs. The result is an effortlessly luxurious space that still manages to feel calm, cosy and inviting.

Hamptons style kitchens are traditionally characterised by their bright, airy colour palette and shaker-style cabinetry, which is that gorgeous, framed look you see on the doors and drawers. You’ll also find lots of creams, whites and blues, paired with marble benchtops and accents of natural timber. In terms of styling, pendant lighting, rattan or wooden barstools and polished hardware are all staple elements to achieve the quintessential Hamptons look you see in this gorgeous Karrinyup kitchen!

Let’s run through everything that makes this kitchen special:

Features and Functions

Shaker-style cabinetry
A classic Hamptons kitchen starts with shaker-style cabinetry. The defining feature of this cabinet style is the square panel framing each individual door, with this kitchen achieving the look using the Polytec Hampton profile in both Classic White and Prime Oak. Oak wood nods to the coastal and farmhouse influence and is also carried through in the stylish curved door frame. To complement this curved frame, other curved elements have been incorporated throughout the space such as the pendant lights, dining table, placemats and even the rounded cabinet handles!

Benchtops and Splashback
Caesarstone Aterra Blanca was chosen by our client for its clean, luminous surface and soft veining. This high-quality mineral benchtop is incredibly durable and made for busy kitchens, such as this family who needed a functional space for regular meal prep, baking and entertaining. It is resistant to heat, stains and scratches, making it the perfect white benchtop for a kitchen that is built to last. To complete the space, a glossy white splashback was chosen to complement the stone and open the space by enhancing natural light reflection.

Pastel blue barn door
A pastel blue sliding barn door was chosen for a pop of colour and personality. It serves as a statement piece, grounding the farmhouse influence without overwhelming the overall look. The industrial black handle and sliding frame complete the look, while blending seamlessly with the kitchen’s soft and airy palette. This feature perfectly complements the rest of this client’s home, with motifs of the farmhouse style throughout, such as rustic finishes, timber accents and vintage-inspired details are seen throughout.

Brass hardware and pendant lighting
Brushed brass and polished hardware are staple elements of the Hamptons and farmhouse styles. They add a quiet luxurious feel without being overly flashy. Hafele brushed brass hardware was selected for this kitchen in a combination of round knobs and straight handles. But it doesn’t stop there, brass elements have also been weaved into the pendant lighting, sink tap and wall light above the open shelves.

Open shelving with panelling
One of the most charming areas of this kitchen is the coffee station with floating display shelves, or open shelving, above. It is the perfect way to add a personal touch to your space by displaying cookbooks, ceramics and those cute storage jars for your tea and coffee! We can see the designer had functionality in mind here, placing the most used appliances right near the fridge and pantry so essentials like milk and biscuits can be easily reached.

Stylish appliances on display
From the coffee machine to the stand mixer, thoughtfully chosen appliances have been carefully placed on display, both for their aesthetic and for regular use! Other appliances such as the microwave, oven and dishwasher have been built-in to maintain flow, but are not fully concealed, adding the more rustic feel and farmhouse style. You may also be wondering where the fridge is? The designer has cleverly integrated it beside the pantry, with the same door finish to match and to hide it perfectly in plain sight!

Clever storage solutions
Nothing pleases us more than a well organised pantry! This one is a breeze to keep orderly, with multiple storage areas that keep everyday essentials neatly tucked away, ensuring a clean and seamless look throughout. Integrated cabinetry and built in drawers on the central island bench also allow for extra convenience and hidden storage for the things we hate to see but love to use, such as that clunky slow cooker or sandwich press.

A layout that works
A Hamptons style kitchen needs to be as easy to live in as it looks. By featuring a massive island in the centre of the space, there’s generous space for food preparation while also doubling as a social hub for entertaining. Open shelving and thoughtful display areas play a part in that effortless lived in vibe and the layout supports the rhythm of daily life. This kitchen is more than just good looks, it’s for morning coffees, family dinners and weekend gatherings.
